Trickle, trickle...the hobby faucet needs some more pressure

Okay,

time for another post. This won't be saying to much as "nothing" happened to really talk about. However I'd like to make this a sort of introduction to a little bit more interesting posts right around the corner.
To actually include at least 1 interesting(let's hope so) picture in this post:

During the move(more about that in a sec) I made some time to "pose" my finished Isengard project. I'll be staying away from lotr for a long while, save for maybe a shot at one of the characters for the occasional painting competition. But....behold my Uruk Hai :-D
On a further note, I started a new mini exchange with 2 friends and I'll be painting the sword drawing-death korps of Krieg Commisar from forge world for one of them. I still need to start cleaning the model up. So give me some time before the first WIP-shots.

As a final "subject" I'd like to explain myself for the lack of new stuff. At the moment I'm extremely busy upgrading the complete first floor of my house. Last year the "master bedroom" was treated that way and for me a lot of actions were quite new. Not completely dissapointed in myself and a whole bunch of experiences added to my resume, I'm now ready to take on the next two bedrooms(one of them is actually the office/hobby room). I want to finish like twice the work in half the time :-p
And i hope I'll be still able to make some progress here... So keep your fingers crossed, I know I will!

More WIP's and the end of a mini-exchange

It's been a while, and I know that this seems like my targets, goals and good intentions for 2011 are flying out of the door allready. However, it's been crazy like hell in my life last weeks. Last weekend me and my pals from the Saints ran a grand tournament for Fantasy in Tilburg(the Netherlands). 56 Attendees....good times and not much sleep. The GT was also the closing date for my mini-exchange. Some pictures of my finished entry:

The Dark eldar mini is the more or less finished stage of my test model. I need to do some freehands on the canopy. And my army-mini's will need to be a little more detailed and less of a rush job. But I'm quite happy with the colours. The gems/display have been altered to some scorpion green/golden yellow mix, and I like it much more than the orange version. The idea is to draw the free-hands in the same bright green colour. I hope this turns ou all right.

As allways comments, suggestion etc... are more than welcome(altough still absent for the moment ;-))

More progress on the dark kin

a very quick post with some nice pictures :-D
I almost finished my test reaver jetbike for my dark eldar.

Not much time to elaborate right now, but I wanted to show them.

I'm looking for ways to improve/finish them. As allways I've been pondering colour schemes etc.. and the orange gems don't work for me. I'm thinking maybe turquoise/ scorpion green as a better solution. I also still need a colour to finishe the bodysuit and free-hands tribal markings on the canopy. Suggestion more than welcome!

Hello again!

It's been a while, but last week was crazy @ work. A new guy started to work for me so I've been rolling a lot of leadership tests :-P
 No seriously, there is a lot of training to be done. And the more time spent now, the more the effort will hopefully pay itself back.

But back to serious business: "the hobby"
Out of the multitude of running projects, some are finally approaching completion.
Before the start of  2011, I finally managed to finish a Uruk-hai army for war of the ring. I painted this, just table top quality, but there are quite some dudes in the army and there's allways a big to-do list to contend with :-D
Anyway, a year later than anticipated but finally finished:

One of the other projects I need to finish is the model that I'm painting for a friend. I should finish it by the 22nd of January. So hopefully I'll share some WIP's and finished pictures between now and 2 weeks from now. I'd also like to post some progress on the dark eldar....tune in next time(I'm becoming quite pleased with what I have done up till now

Army list edition 1

After spending a couple of evenings pondering the denizens of Commoragh and reading some nice insights in a couple of other blogs I came up with this list. I'm keeping it at 1800 points with some ideas to push it to 2000.
I would love to get a lot of critique on this. I'm not that good on the tabletop battlefield up to now. I'd really like top improve and I'd also like to do that with an inspiring army(best painted ....keeping my fingers crossed). So advice from advanced list builders is what I crave for :-D....how dramatic

I really loved to play a combo of the baron and lelith. However I came up with something else:

These boys are accompanied by the duke and should make use of his buff poison rule

-10 kabalite warriors, 1 upgraded to sybarite and 2 weapon upgrades: splinter cannon x1 and blaster x1, riding a raider with nightshields & flickerfield(205Pts)
- 10 kabalite warriors, 1 upgraded to sybarite  with blast pistol & power weapon and 2 weapon upgrades: splinter cannon x1 and shredder x1, riding a raider with nightshields & flickerfield(220Pts)

For the moment I'm 23 Pts over the limit so I need to cut some stuff.

The basic idea is according to going first or not make use of slicuss-vertical assault. I'd use my wyches to stop/tarpit his assault elements while trying to overwhelm his other units piecemeal with a concentrated mobile deluge of splintershots.

As I said....suggestions more than welcome. Id love to include some hellions, reavers or incubi just because I love the models and in the long run( when the model is released) the addition of 1 of the flyers as third heavy support choice looks interesting

So back to commoragh(or somewhere out in space as "the severed" are a space bound Kabal)...

Ok, during the month of November I've been pondering on a colour palette for my dark eldar. I wanted something quite different from the "studio" army. I wanted something bright. What's also important that I want the army to convey the right feelings: Evil, arrogant, beautiful and vain.

I liked the impression it gave me so I started to think about these colours, the colour wheel etc...

To cut a long story short: By the time I had decided on a palette Phill Kelly wrote a lovely article on different Kabals. Apparently the palette that I envisioned was proudly worn by "the severed". Now I quite love their back ground so ....I'll be building a dark eldar army based on the severed Kabal.

In a short while I'll post some pictures from my test model a reaver jetbike from the cult of the Carnivorous Orchid, a wych cult tied to "the Severed".

slow progress is ....progress

So a very short one today.
I've been very busy with lot's of stuff: World of tanks(King tiger is in my grasp), Saints stuff(more on that later), something called my job and a little bit with painting. The results are here to see....and now that I see the pictures I have to say that my regular problem surfaces again: I'm too cautious with contrast. My highlights aren't high enough and my shadows are to light. So I'll be "extremising"the pants of the model as soon as I get some brush time :-D
